Editing Space Details in VUC Manager
VUCM (VU Collaborate Manager) is a tool that allows authorised staff members to create spaces and enrol staff into these spaces. It has to be used prior to beginning of every teaching period so that staff can prepare the spaces for delivery of their unit/course.
If you have created a Space, you may also have the option to edit the Space details – this is useful if you need to include additional locations in the delivery, or you have incorrectly chosen details that don’t match student enrolments in VU Connect, and need to modify the Space. Details that can be edited include locations, units or teaching period.
Please note: You will only be able to edit/update the details of a Space if:
- Students are not yet enrolled in the Space, or;
- The start date set for the Space has not been reached yet.
Log into MYVU portal at https://myvuportal.vu.edu.au and in the Application access section, click the
VU Collaborate Manager.
Once logged into VUCM, stay in the Home screen and enter the Unit code to search for.
You will also need to select the College under which the space was created.
You may choose to select the option to only show spaces that you created.Click ‘Search’.
From the list of matching spaces, select ‘Update’ from the Options link next to the desired space to edit.
Note: The update option will only be available if the start date has not been reached yet, or students are not yet enrolled in the Space.
If the update option is not available, contact ITS Service Desk for further support in modifying the Space.
You now have the option to add or delete units/unit instances from the existing Space, in the same way you would when creating new Spaces.
Decide if you wish to add more of the available units to the space. Use the ‘Select location’ and ‘Add’ options to specify which campus locations will be added to the Space if updating campus locations.
Remember, you cannot remove unit instances when the original start date has lapsed.Click ‘Next’ when finished.
If you have added additional units, then the name of the Space may need to be modified. Start and End dates for delivery may be modified if needed, however note that you will only be able to extend dates.

On the Manage Staff screen, you can search for and add or remove staff and assign appropriate roles in the space.
Note: you can also do this directly within VU Collaborate, without the need to return to VUCM.Click ‘Next’ when finished.
The final screen summarises the details of the updated space.Click ‘Finish’ to apply your changes to
Please note: The details you enter need to match the student enrolment data as listed in VU Connect, as the details you enter in VU Collaborate Manager control student access to the space. Please ensure you have verified the data in VU Connect and enter the relevant matching data within VU Collaborate Manager.
