Inserting quicklinks in the HTML Editor
Insert a Quicklink
- Click the Insert Quicklink icon.
- Select the type of item you want to link to from the Type drop-down list (for example, a quiz, a unit content item, an external URL).
- Do one of the following:
If you chose Do this
Click Add a File and select the applicable file in the Add a File window that appears.
Click the Select File button.
Select the ePortfolio you want to create a link to from the Source drop-down list.
Click Select Item then link to the item in the ePortfolio.
Select a Service Provider and an Organization Unit from the drop-down lists.
Enter the URL (web address) into the URL field.
Tip You can insert a link to an email address by entering “mailto:” followed by the address (e.g., “mailto: firstname.lastname@example.org”).
Select the item you want to link to from the drop-down list that appears when you select your item type.
- Enter the text you want to use as the link (e.g., “Click here” or “Unit 1 quiz”) in the Link Caption field. This text is inserted into your content as a link to the specified item.
- For the Open In options, select whether you want the target to open in the Whole Window, in the Same Frame (keeping elements such as navbars that might be present when a user is viewing the content), or in a New Window.
- Click Insert.
Note: Permission to edit unit content is required to insert Quicklinks to unit files, ePortfolio items, LORs, CD-ROM Files, etc. Without this permission, the standard permission enables you to insert links to web resources (URLs).
