Sharing Content

You can share content in your VUCollaborate spaces by selecting the components that you want to share and exporting them as a custom zip file.

Step One: Access Your Content

Make sure that you are in the space where you would like to export the content. Once in there, click on the View Content quicklink, or go to Content in the menu navbar.

From Content you can create and edit modules, add and upload files and drag and drop files into modules. For more details on how to create content please see the Creating Content video.

Step Two: Export Content

To export content, click on the Table of Contents on the left hand menu and then click Import/Export.

Select the Export Components option and click Start

You can select all the content by ticking the Select All Components box.

Alternatively, you can select individual components by ticking the box of the component that you want to export.

Once you have selected your content click Continue.

By choosing Select individual components to export you are given the option to choose any content or other components in your space to include in the custom zip package.

In the Confirm Components to Export screen, check that the components that you selected are listed, then click Continue

Wait for the Export Summary to display a successful export and click Finish

Step Three: Download the Exported Custom Zip Package

Click the message Click here to download the export Zip package.

Warning: Make sure to click on the message to ensure that your file has been downloaded. After this, you can click Done.

The custom zip file will download to the Downloads folder on your computer. You can now share your content by making the custom zip file available to others to import in their spaces (see Step 4)

Tip: You will probably want to Rename the custom zip file for easy access by others..

Warning: This custom zip file is the only format suitable for importing into VU Collaborate spaces

Step Four: Import Content to a Space

In the space where you would like to import the content, go to Content . Under the Table of Contents click the Import/Export button.

To import content from a custom zip file, select Import Components and click the Choose File button.

Browse and select your custom zip file. Once the filename appears, click Start to begin the import of content.

Click Continue when Preprocessing is complete.

When existing files are encountered you can either Overwrite the existing file or Do not Overwrite the existing file. Select the option that best suits your needs.

 

 

You can also choose the content that you want to import. You can either Select All Components, or manually select which components you want to import.

 

After your selections are done click Continue

Click Finish when VU Collaborate completes Importing Course Material.

Click Done when you see the Import Summary. You will be returned back to the Import/Export/Copy Components screen.

The imported content should now be available in the space.
