Adding Content Without Breaching Copyright

Any content that you haven’t created must be linked to, rather than added as a PDF to VU Collaborate. If the library provides access to the content in electronic format eg. journal articles, you must link to it. If the content is in print format eg. print book chapter, you must add it onto eReserve and then link to it. This is in order to comply with the Australian Copyright Act.

Did you create the content?

YES

Put it on VU Collaborate.

NO

You cannot upload PDFs which someone else has created, as they hold the copyright. Instead you need to link to these resources. See below for details of how to do this.

Does the library provide online access to the content?

Determine whether the library provides electronic access to what you want to put on VU Collaborate eg. journal article, book chapter, video.

Step One: Search The Library

Go to the library home page [http://www.vu.edu.au/library]

Enter the title of your item eg. article title, into the Library Search box.
