Booking a ReVU Recording

ReVU is a tool that allows you to record audio or video files and make them available online to view or download. You could use ReVU to record lectures, presentations, or short videos to support a ‘flipped classroom’ approach. 

Make a ReVU booking

You can organise a ReVU booking directly within VU Collaborate, in order to schedule audio or video recordings for students to view. The recordings could be in a ReVU enabled lecture theatre, or videos that you record from your computer and then publish/upload using the Personal Capture tool or Media Upload.

By using the ReVU booking option within VU Collaborate, the recordings will automatically be linked to your VU Collaborate space. Once you complete the booking, a new area for recordings will be available in your space automatically, under Communication > ReVU Digital Recordings. This area will automatically update with any recordings you make available in ReVU and be automatically available to students. 


Step One

Login to VU Collaborate and locate the ReVU Digital Recordings widget panel for making a ReVU booking:

Click on the ReVU booking link to go to the booking form:


Step Two

Here you decide on the type of recording to request in terms of:

  • Semester booking
  • One-Off booking or
  • Personal Capture and Media Import

If using a Semester or One-Off booking, ensure the lecture theatre has been booked with Room Bookings first and it is a ReVU enabled venue. Typically all lecture theatres will be ReVU enabled.

If using Personal Capture, you will need to fill in the booking form, then ensure you download and install the Personal Capture application available from the ReVU Staff tool under Downloads.

A confirmation email will be sent to you after making a booking. This lists the details of the booking and should be checked to ensure the details are correct. 

Viewing recordings and the ReVU Staff Tool


Once a recording has been made and is available, you will be able to view it in the ReVU Staff Tool.

You will also receive an email confirmation when a recording is published and available for viewing.


Click on the ReVU Staff Tool link within your VU Collaborate space, or go directly to the ReVU Staff Tool[https://revu.vu.edu.au] (login with your e number and staff password).

Once logged in, you are presented with the Echoes Page where you can view and manage/edit media files in your space. Highlighting a title in the list will give you further options regarding viewing and editing the recording:

Availability Email

This email will include links to the EchoCentre Course Portal where you can playback and manage the recordings.

Viewing and Editing Recordings

If you need to view and edit your recordings, including editing both recording details and the recording itself, you can do so within the ReVU Staff Tool. Refer to ReVU Staff Tool guides and resources for further information.
